Faith, Hope, Courage and Grace, affordable acrylic kits. A great way to get started.
Hugs through Shrugs is a charity project dedicated to creating a community of support for moms with children battling pediatric cancer.
Volunteers from the knit and crochet community make and donate the shrugs, wrapping the moms receiving them in love - sending good wishes their way.
Several children‘s hospitals have embraced our mission and keep our shrugs on hand to give to moms whose children are being admitted. We are honored to be partnering with Momcology and Hayden's House, non-profit organizations supporting families affected by pediatric cancer through peer support groups and retreats.
The Covid-19 pandemic stopped the world in its tracks for a while which gave us some time to reevaluate our distribution process. During this time we were able to not only connect with Momcology and Hayden's House but with several other small charities that directly support pediatric cancer families.
By tapping into the talent of the knit and crochet community, the passion of hospital staff who want to do a little extra for the moms they meet each day and the kindness of individuals who have taken the time to join our mission, we are hoping to let some very worried moms know we are thinking about them, that they matter, their children matter - and their journeys are not invisible.
Unfortunately, we can not reach every mom - but with your help we will do our best to reach as many as we can:
One hug at a time,
one shrug at a time,
one mom at a time.
Hugs through Shrugs is registered with the federal government and recognized in the State of New Jersey as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
