What better way to fund a knit/crochet based charity than through hand dyed yarn sales!
The idea for this service project turned registered 501(c)3 charity AND hand dyed yarn business began to take shape during the winter of 2016 in Newport, Rhode Island where founder, Mary Langdon, got involved doing charity work supporting Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence. Mary’s exposure to these families combined with her experience in the fiber community prompted her to use her own passion for knitting to bring a little comfort to moms whose children were battling cancer. Her love for this wonderful city is reflected in her Newport themed yarn and shawl collection. Postcards from Newport highlight some popular points of interest while the Gilded Age yarns and shawls honor the strong women behind the Newport mansions .Although Hugs through Shrugs is based in New Jersey, donations are shipped nationwide through collaborations with many other charities supporting families whose lives have been forever changed by pediatric cancer.
